The Kremlin Sees No Possibility of Quickly Resuming Talks with Ukraine

The Kremlin stated that a resumption of peace talks between Russia and Ukraine is not expected in the near future.

On July 16, Dmitry Peskov announced that Moscow remains formally open to negotiations, but currently sees no conditions for a quick return to dialogue. He also thanked Turkey for its attempts to act as a mediator.

Previous rounds of talks took place in Istanbul, Abu Dhabi, and Geneva, but since February, the process has effectively stalled. Ukraine insists primarily on a ceasefire, while Russia demands a broader long-term agreement.

This news is directly related to the market question "Will Russia and Ukraine reach a ceasefire agreement by December 31, 2026?" The Kremlin's statement indicates that a diplomatic breakthrough is not expected in the near future.
